OH, HEYYYYYY 2013!

I'm back!! And out of my funk. I've been up to a few things while I was on blog break...

Inspired by Jen of The Social Home to start green smoothies as a breakfast substitute!! I am following her recipe pretty closely, she talked about it here. I have never been much of a breakfast eater, and don't feel like protein shakes really meet my needs anymore. They were appropriate when I was spending 1.5-2 hours in the gym everyday but I haven't worked out that intensely in quite some time.
This was the beginning of my prep last night....

We are starting to menu plan on a weekly basis! We choose our meals, then grocery shop and prep all the produce for the week. I think it will help to eliminate the frustration of thinking about what to make when we are hungry, make our grocery shopping more effective and cut down on prep time for weeknights when we get home starving!
Finally put out my first One King's Lane purchase... how cute is this bright monogrammed door mat?! It's the only thing at our sad little front door right now. I ordered it back in September but I had Fall and Christmas mats, so this is the winter mat for now... till Spring ;)

I was inspired by this diy seed bead jewelry seen here and here by Andrea at For the Love of. I loved her creations and ordered seed beads in a couple of colour families (coral, green and blue) from BeadFX. Maybe I should have stuck with one, because they are very, very tedious. But I'm almost finished my first necklace!

Spent last weekend in Whistler for a stagette - we had a blast. If you haven't tried snow tubing, you must. Or maybe I'm just really out of the loop and I'm the only one who hasn't. Either way, so.much.fun.

While we were there, we made sure to hit up Whistler Brewing. They have their {very} limited release of Winter Dunkel out right now - and I have to say, I'm not much of a beer drinker, but this stuff is like liquid gold. When it was released, between ourselves and a few friends we completed depleted all of the local stock. So we made sure to get a growler filled up - draft is always tastier! Their Chestnut is also really good but sold out for the season.
Sunday brunch yesterday... I'm clearly ready for Spring as I am already rocking the graphic neons. Yessssss.
Hopefully you have stuck with me through my little break... I feel motivated and ready to roll. One of my sanity savers is that I've decided I'm going to stop apologizing for cell phone photos. They are reality for me - my phone is always handy so it's what I use. I hope you can stand it - I'll still have some quality photos for posts too, but I'm not going to feel bad about cell phone photos anymore!! Ahhhh. Better already.

New post coming up on Wednesday so check back!

xo,
Andrea

  1. Wow, we are certainly on the same wavelength this week! I've got green smoothies and meal plans on the brain too! Although, I'm much less ambitious and only committing myself to a handful of pre- selected meals and not 7, because that just overwhelms me. Good luck with all! :)

    1. Ha, too funny!! I'm looking forward to your smoothie post - so far, mine have been very tasty!! It took me a couple gulps to get used to it but I quite like it now.

As for our meals... we are only doing weekdays. And we kept the meals really basic, stuff we would ordinarily make. No fancy recipes to follow because I think that would be too much to keep up with for now. It's been awesome so far - so nice to take the guess work out of meals. I hope you are sharing yours!!
